We’re calling on children, families, creatives and anyone who loves Lego to come and help us build a version of Chippenham marketplace as it was in 1886.
Got a hankering to have a go at making the Yelde Hall? Always fancied trying to recreate the Angel Hotel or wanted to construct the Buttercross?
Based in the History Centre’s education room with local historian Lucy Whitfield, we’ve got a huge detailed map to work from, loads of photographs of the buildings, and tons of enthusiasm – but we also need you and your building skills to try to create the centre of town as it once was. But, accuracy isn’t the most important thing, and we don’t mind if your version of the Old Palace (now Chippenham Museum) is green and blue and has extra turrets – it’s coming and having a go that counts.
We’ll also take all donations of Lego for our attempt, both in the run up to the event and even on the day – bring them to WSHC reception, or Chippenham Library. All donations will be given to Chippenham Library’s Lego Club after we’ve finished creating our masterpiece.
This event is part of a three-day arts festival happening around Chippenham from the 23rd-25th February. Find out more about Chippenham Fringe Feb 2024 and the other creative and vibrant Fringe performances and activities taking place by visiting here.
