Local support
- Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust have a wealth of information on their website. Find useful guidance and links, including getting support for mental help. If you need help right now, call AWP’s 24-hour urgent response line free on 0800 953 1919.
- Olive Branch Counselling are a professional counselling agency and charity located in the centre of Chippenham. They provide a safe and affordable counselling service for adults. Check their website for more information.
- Relate Mid Wiltshire is a local charity that provides support to help individuals, couples and families of all ages, backgrounds and sexual orientations to get the most out of their relationships. They charge a fee for counselling to cover the costs of the sessions but don’t make a profit from the services they provide. The fee for ongoing counselling is dependent on the total household income.

- Health Improvement Coach – A dedicated Health Improvement Coach from Wiltshire Council can assist you every step of the way to achieving and maintaining your goals to improve your health and mental wellbeing. - Wiltshire Mind is an independent charity supporting people in Wiltshire who are experiencing mental health problems or emotional distress. Their services are accessible for everybody in the community. Find out more on their website.
Focused on young people
- Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust have useful guidance about looking after your mental help and how to get help when it is needed. They also have information about how you can support others too. If it’s not a 999 emergency but you are experiencing an immediate mental health crisis, you can call their free 24-hour daily mental health response line.
- On Your Mind is run by Barnardo’s and funded by Wiltshire Council. Their website has lots of practical tips and advice about supporting children and young people’s mental health focusing on a range of different subjects.
- Teen Talk provide a confidential counselling service to young people aged 10 to 25 within North and West Wiltshire. They deliver face-to-face counselling on a Wednesday afternoon in Chippenham. Find out more about on their website.
National support
- Calm (The Campaign Against Living Miserably) run a free and confidential helpline and webchat – from 5pm until midnight every day.
- The Cruse Bereavement Care Freephone National Helpline is staffed by trained bereavement volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by bereavement.
- Every Mind Matters is run by Public Health England and designed help you make small changes that fit your life, so you feel better and healthier every day.
- Mind are a national charity who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They provide lots of information and support on their website
- Samaritans are always available for a call and a chat to help with whatever you’re going through, a Samaritan will face it with you – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 116 123 for free, or via email.
- Shout – If you are in mental health crisis text SHOUT to 85258. Free and confidential crisis support available . 24/7.
- SANE mental health charity – a national out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support, guidance and information to anyone affected by mental illness including family, friends and carers. They are open every day of the year from 4pm to 10pm on 0300 304 7000.
Focused on young people
- Every Mind Matters – lots of tips and support for looking after a young person’s mental health from Public Health England.
- The Mix is a UK based charity that provides free, confidential support for young people under 25 via online, social and mobile.They can help you to take on any challenge you’re facing – from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job, from break-ups to drugs.
- Hope Again is the youth website of Cruse Bereavement Service. They provide advice and support for any young person dealing with the loss of a loved one. Information about how to contact Hope Again is here.
- PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. They provide help and support on their website. They also provide HOPELINE UK which is a confidential support and advice service for children and young people under the age of 35 who are experiencing thoughts of suicide and anyone who is concerned that a young person could be thinking about suicide.
- Young Minds are a charity fighting for young people’s mental health. They want to make sure all young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s challenges. They provide lots of advice and support for young people on their website here.

- A part of me – Created by Child Bereavement UK, this App is designed to support young people aged 11-25 who are experiencing the loss of a loved one.
- SAM App – Designed to help you understand and manage anxiety.
- Smiling Mind – An App for daily meditation and mindfulness for all ages.
- Stay Alive – The Stay Alive app is a pocket suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information to help you stay safe.
