Barchester Healthcare’s Cepen Lodge in Chippenham is opening its doors to elderly people to tackle loneliness in the community.
Elderly people who usually eat alone are invited to join the residents on Wednesdays for a three-course meal. Diners will be treated to a tasty lunch, designed to meet a range of dietary needs and preferences accompanied by an array of beverages. Guests can partake in activities after their meal.
Barchester Care Homes considers loneliness in older people to be a growing issue,
Jade Hodge, General Manager at Cepen Lodge, said: “Loneliness can be a big problem for elderly people, especially as the weather gets colder. Our doors are always open to new friends of the home.”
Barchester’s charitable foundation also address this issue by providing grants to elderly and other disabled adults to enable engagement within the community.
