After what has been a difficult couple of years for all across the world, including the live music industry, Chippenham Folk Festival look forward to filling Chippenham high street and venues with live folk music and dance once more!
It’s almost two years since they were able to hold the last in person festival and the message from the festival organisers is that they “can not possibly wait till next May!“.
So, on October 22nd and 23rd Chippenham Folk Festival are holding a weekend of song, dance, and music. They have worked with their Patron John Kirkpatrick (MBE) to create a Patrons choice line-up for an autumn fundraiser.
The Melrose quartet will be headlining the Saturday evening concert at the Cause, along with the beautiful sounds of mother and daughter duo Belinda Kempster and Fran Foote.
There is a family concert with Jess and Richard Arrowsmith performing songs and music from their family friendly albums – “Off We Go!” And “Off We Go Again!” – where the audience can join in the fun, belt out the choruses, and sing your socks off. With children’s songs and nursery rhymes, the concert will be suitable for babies, toddlers, and big kids of all ages (even grown-up ones) – participation encouraged!
If concerts aren’t your thing, there are lots of other events to offer.
For those wanting to brush off their dancing shoes there is a Saturday evening Ceilidh at the Constitutional Hall and a programme of ‘folk dance’ at the Neeld Hall, including country dance a Bal (European dance) and a Playford Ball.
In the town local performer Clare’s circus will be holding a lunch time circus workshop near the Buttercross and dance sides will be busking around the town throughout the Saturday.
Tickets for all of these events are available via the Chippenham Folk Festival website – https://www.chippfolk.co.uk/home/tickets-2021/.
Tickets are available per event with a discount for multiple event purchase.
