Save Chippenham Art Auction.

Come and join us on Sunday 19th December, share a glass of wine, maybe make a bid and help raise funds for The Campaign against Urban Sprawl to the South of Chippenham. The Save Chippenham Art Auction has more than 100 fantastic lots – from textiles, art, photographs, yarn art, jewellery, ceramics, prints and paintings in a range of media. Purchase Beautiful Gifts for Christmas whilst Saving our Countryside.
The auction will include a wide range of artworks all of which have been kindly donated by local artists. All proceeds will go to saving Chippenham from excessive development on green fields and thereby help to save the planet.
When?
- The auction event will be held from 11.30am – 6pm
- Viewing begins at 11.30am
- Please join us for a festive glass of wine and nibbles between 11.30 – 3pm during the viewing. Non-alcoholic drinks will also be available.There will be the opportunity to make a £2 donation upon arrival.
- Welcome and Opening Words at 3.15pm
- The auction begins at 3.30pm
- Closing Address and Words of Thanks at 4.30pm (approximately)

- A printed catalogue will be available to buy for £2 from 11.30am on Sunday, 19th December.
Raffle
Four works will be raffled on the 19th December, independently of the auction process.
Making a bid
Please read the information below carefully as this will guide you through the process of viewing the artworks, making a bid, and settling the fee.
VIEWING
- Viewing is from 11.30am – 3pm on 19th December.
BIDDING
- If you plan to bid in person, you will be asked to complete a bidding form, available from the tellers on the day. You will receive a numbered paddle in exchange.
COMMISSION BIDS
- If you wish to leave a commission bid before 19th December, please email savechippenhamartauction@btinternet.com
- If you wish to leave a commission bid on 19th December, please obtain a commission bid form from a teller. Please complete the commission bid form by 2pm.
AUCTION PROCESS
- When bidding in the room, please identify yourself using your paddle.
- Most lots will have guide prices. The auctioneer will exercise discretion regarding minimum bids.
- We request buyers to pay for their purchases on 19th December. Methods of payment will be as follows: cash, cheque, card reader or a direct pledge to the Crowd Justice site.
AUCTION (3.30pm)
- Porters will bring each lot from the viewing room and hold it up during the bidding process, before taking it back to the viewing room.
- Tellers will be ready to take payments as soon as they receive the first completed clerk sheet from the auctioneer.
- Please collect your purchase(s) from the viewing room by showing a porter your receipted payment form.
- Please exit the viewing room as soon as you have collected your purchase(s).
Practical Information
In line with COVID regulations, we will be asking visitors to wear a face mask whilst at The Cause and to sanitise their hands upon arrival. We will do everything we can to ensure social distancing during the course of the event. Thank you for your understanding. Please do not attend the auction if you have Covid symptoms or have been in contact with someone with Covid within the last ten days.
