A dual exhibition that celebrates the Platinum Jubilee of our Queen and informs about a more turbulent time for the monarchy during the English Civil War. Free entry. A time which is the subject of a re enactment in the town by the The English Civil War Society in July.

30th May to the 4th June at the Yelde Hall – 70 years – 70 faces exhibition
Chippenham Museum’s after school Photo Club has embarked on an ambitious project to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee through the faces of 70 people from the town. Club members, aged 11-18, have taken a photograph of someone from the community born every year of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Their photographs form an exhibition giving a snap shot of Chippenham at the point it celebrates 70 years of her Majesty the Queen’s reign.
You can also see the ‘Joy of Community’ bunting being displayed at the Yelde Hall during the 70 years – 70 faces exhibition. Decorated triangular flags are displayed as bunting. Created by local people in various mediums – the flags are a personal and artistic response to what our community means. Free entry.
31st May at Chippenham Museum – Party hats & crazy crowns
Drop into Chippenham Museum from 10.30am – 3.30pm to make an amazing piece of headwear – free event (donations welcome)
The Museum offers a quieter session before the museum is open to the public, ideal for those who would find the busy nature of drop-in activities uncomfortable. These sessions are also free, but spaces are limited and booking is essential. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please book a place for all attending here.
