Many people are spending more time online at the moment. The National Cyber Security Centre have lots of really good advice and information about how to keep yourself and your family secure online during Coronovirus.
They have advice for individuals and families on their website on a range of topics including: –
- What is cyber security?
- Being Cyber aware
- Dealing with common Cyber problems
- Protecting your data and devices
- How to report cyber crime
They also have information for the self-employed, businesses and organisations about Cyber security.
As part of their new Cyber Aware campaign, the NCSC has also successfully launched its Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS), resulting in dozens of malicious web campaigns shut down in its first day after spike in coronavirus phishing scams. More information on that here.
If you have received an email which you’re not quite sure about you can forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk.
The message might be from a company you don’t normally receive communications from, or form someone you do not know. You may just have a hunch. If you are suspicious, you should report it as it might help protect more people from being affected.
Age UK have also produced some really help guidance on their website aimed at older people but with some really useful advice on lots of different topics including phone scams, postal scams and staying safe online.
